Im thinking this should be a challenge on next years Project Runway, since theyve apparently done dog clothing this season. We also went to the cathedral of Brussels, which was absolutely beautiful! Having toured all these European cities, its kind of risky to go to an art museum or cathedral, because it might be exactly like the art museum or cathedral in every other European city. But I liked the architecture in Brussels even better than the Kölner Dom, although it doesnt have quite the same immense majesty. What it does have, however, is an excavation site in its basement featuring the remnants of a Romanesque cathedral originally built under it! They built it on top of another cathedral! It was more exciting when we were there. The fine art museum, however, left something to be desiredalthough the 19th and 20th century art exhibits were great, well-arranged and well-lit, the 17th and 18th centuries were closed for renovation, and the 15th and 16th centuries were not very impressive and set up in a crowded, dark attic. This picture is more of a demonstration of my photographic prowess than an endorsement of the museum. Thats all. It was recently announced that Dartmouth will now have a house dedicated to LGBT students should they wish to spend time there or live there. This is a wonderful achievement for the LGBT community at the College on the Hill. It will provide a space for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered students as well as their straight allies. Not many universities across the country have such a house for its LGBT community and so Dartmouth is leading the charge for progress. With a new president at the helm who ousted a recently appointed new dean because of his past hateful rhetoric aimed at the LGBT community, Dartmouth has been doing right for its LGBT students. The Centers of Disease Control and Prevention defines obesity as having a BMI over 30 (CDC). In the year 2000, roughly 30 percent of 20 year olds in America were obese. By 2003 that number had risen to 32 percent. That is a small window of increase. From the 1970s to the early 2000s, the percent of obese Americans doubled. This means that in 1970, only 15 percent of Americans were obese, and in the thirty years following, obesity took a sharp rise. In 1960, 13 percent of Americans were obese. The mean percent rise per year in the 1960s was 0.2 percent. The mean percent rise per year in the three decades following the 60s was 0.5, and then in 2000, the percent rise per year again increased, this time to 0.6 percent. This does not seem like†¦show more content†¦In 2013, the Harvard School of Public Health published a study they had conducted that found that on average it would cost $1.50 more per day for one person to eat healthy rather than an unhealthy diet. â€Å"Over the course of a year, $1.50/ day more for eating a healthy diet would increase food costs for one person by about $550 per year. This would represent a real burden for some families† (Harvard). For the average American family, this could pose a serious problem. The median household income in America in 2015 was $57,000 (United States Census Bereau). The average family size in 2016 was above 3 people (United States Census Bureau). This means that for a common American family, the increased spending is almost $2000, or 3% of their yearly income. That is a significant amount of money that most Americans would rather save, or simply spend on things that they deem more important than a healthier diet. Which other departments or functional areas within an organization are best positioned to collaborate with environmental managers on these efforts? The results suggest that while the embedded role of environmental managers in the organization positions them to collaborate with several other departments or functional areas on sustainability and social responsibility efforts, their abilities may not be fully realized.
