I knew that there was a lot of pressure and residents in this nation were getting ready for the most exceedingly awful. Not until I took this course did I find out about how much atomic ability there was between the two nations and how close we really went to an atomic holocaust. The idea of prevention is the most affecting and fundamentally intriguing idea I have learned in this course. To state it was a successful resistance strategy is putting it mildly. The truth of t he matter is, prevention was the best and fruitful approach to discourage the utilization of atomic weapons to this date. This paper will go top to bottom to clarify the idea of atomic discouragement; its impact vulnerable War and later on, will it despite everything neutralize the dangers of today? The principal atomic blast and the beginning of the atomic age was conceived on July 16, 1945 in New Mexico when the Manhattan Project (name for nuclear bomb improvement) was tried. General Lesley Grove, administrator of the Manhattan Project, was heard to state, This is the finish of conventional fighting. This announcement is bogus on the grounds that customary fighting despite everything proceeded much after the new damaging capacity was presented. What came about from the introduction of the nuclear bomb was that this innovation was going to direct all wars later on. More entries about buildings and food

More entries about buildings and food DID YOU KNOW? According to this article, Malaysia recently made it illegal to name children after animals, insects, fruit, vegetables or colors. Gwyneth Paltrow, Im looking in your direction. Well, I dont have any big news. But you know what I do have? Pictures of Brussels, Belgium. Because I was in Brussels, Belgium this weekend. if you happen to be in Europe any time during the summer or winter, be sure to check out the Thalys website for summer offersyou could get fast connections between Cologne, Brussels, Paris, Amsterdam in first class for the low, low price of 50 € RT, with an included meal and up to three (3) beverages of your choice. As the Thalys promotional booklet puts it, you really do travel like a lord in first class. Wait, actually, I do have some big newsLance Bass is dating Reichen from The Amazing Race 4!! Really! Well, I was shocked and awed. I really dont know what else to write after that, so here are some pictures. So the first thing we did in Brussels was get some real Belgian waffles, which I used the MACRO function on my digital camera to take some food-pornographic pictures of. And, let me tell you, even though my favorite meal in the world is chicken and waffles, these Belgian waffles were so good that I would say that probably no other waffle I have ever eaten even deserves to be called a waffle. Actually, the waffle shown above is not just a traditional Belgian waffle, but actually a Liège waffle, with little bits of caramelized sugar on the outside of it. But wherever its from, it was probably the best waffle in the world. Next, it was time for some real Belgian chocolate, which we spent more time photographing than we did eating. Not that it wasnt delicious, but just a little more pricey than I am used to for chocolate, growing up 15 miles outside of Hershey, Pennsylvania: The Sweetest Place on Earth. And what would a trip to Belgium be without some pommes frites? As we all learned in January, French fries were (probably) actually invented in Belgium. As I explained to the wonderfully-named Pascal a few weeks ago, they are called French fries in America because French refers to the method of cutting the potatoesnot because Americans are stupid and think that Belgium and France are the same country. Anyway, the fries were about as good as the ones at Pommes Frites in New York, but a little bit cheaper. If youre in New York, I definitely recommend checking out that little shop and getting some pesto mayonnaise on the side. In this photograph, 21-year-old Kendall 07 and 23-year-old Kunal (my summer roommate from Bombay) enjoy a sampler of Belgian beers at one of the many bars around the Grote Markt. Thus, in our two days in Belgium, we managed to hit four of the five pillars of Belgian culinary fame. The fifth pillar is mussels from Brussels which are way too expensive for college students and also make me puke. The enduring symbol of Brussels is the 18-inch tall Mannekin-Pis. So, not quite the Statue of Liberty or La Sagrada Familia, but maybe appropriate for such a small, laid-back, and enchanting European capital. Legend has it that the fountain was constructed over 500 years ago when a nobleman discovered his lost son in the woods after two days of searching. The son was performing this most vital of bodily functions when he was found, and probably got beat up at school a lot after his father made this statue in his image. Another legend, which I like better, probably because I am male, involves the young boy using his quick wits to extinguish a bomb set to blow up the town hall of Brussels. They sell souvenirs where the stream of water is replaced by a corkscrew for opening wine bottles. I seriously contemplated buying one, but it was a little creepy even for my taste. Also, I should mention that the little dude is usually naked, but was for some reason dressed as Napoleon for our visit. They have a museum in which they store over 500 tiny little pairs of clothes made for him, the most popular of which is always the shiny white Elvis suit. Im thinking this should be a challenge on next years Project Runway, since theyve apparently done dog clothing this season. We also went to the cathedral of Brussels, which was absolutely beautiful! Having toured all these European cities, its kind of risky to go to an art museum or cathedral, because it might be exactly like the art museum or cathedral in every other European city. But I liked the architecture in Brussels even better than the Kölner Dom, although it doesnt have quite the same immense majesty. What it does have, however, is an excavation site in its basement featuring the remnants of a Romanesque cathedral originally built under it! They built it on top of another cathedral! It was more exciting when we were there. The fine art museum, however, left something to be desiredalthough the 19th and 20th century art exhibits were great, well-arranged and well-lit, the 17th and 18th centuries were closed for renovation, and the 15th and 16th centuries were not very impressive and set up in a crowded, dark attic. This picture is more of a demonstration of my photographic prowess than an endorsement of the museum. Thats all. If you live in the American northeast, be sure to stay hydrated in the midst of this record-breaking heat wave.

Dartmouth LGBT

Dartmouth LGBT October 3, 2013 Ivy Coach salutes Dartmouth College for leading the charge for LGBT equality (photo credit: Gavin Huang). The Dartmouth LGBT community is getting a house! As you may know from reading our college admissions blog, we write quite a bit about the LGBT-friendliness of certain college campuses across the country. And so, today, wed like to shower praise on Dartmouth College. As detailed in an article on Towleroad, Dartmouth has come a mighty long way since the days before the school was co-educational. It was recently announced that Dartmouth will now have a house dedicated to LGBT students should they wish to spend time there or live there. This is a wonderful achievement for the LGBT community at the College on the Hill. It will provide a space for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered students as well as their straight allies. Not many universities across the country have such a house for its LGBT community and so Dartmouth is leading the charge for progress. With a new president at the helm who ousted a recently appointed new dean because of his past hateful rhetoric aimed at the LGBT community, Dartmouth has been doing right for its LGBT students. We at Ivy Coach congratulate Dartmouth College for leading the charge in the fight for LGBT equality. May other universities throughout the United States soon follow your wonderful example. Its no coincidence that famed LGBT scholar Michael Bronski, one of our very favorite people, has been a visiting professor for many years in the department of womens studies. He has helped lead this charge for Dartmouth.

Reflection Paper On Psychological Studies - 975 Words

This year, I participated in 20 hours (20 SONA credits) worth of psychology studies, which consisted of experimental, survey/questionnaire, and qualitative methods. In this reflective report, I am going to discuss my experience of participating in psychological studies, as a part of the Psychology in Action module, and demonstrate how this has increased my understanding of both methodological issues in the research. I am also going to evaluate the methodologies that were used, and discuss the strengths and weaknesses in answering the questions under consideration. The first study I took part in was a brain stimulation, which looked at attention. It took place over 3 consecutive days and took approximately 1 to 1.5 hours per day. I needed to fill out some questionnaires and do some computer tasks, on each day. While doing some of the tasks, a small current was applied to my scalp using a transcutaneous electrical stimulation (TES) machine. This small current is capable of changing the electrical properties of the brain. TES is a harmless procedure which is commonly used in psychological experiments. The after-effects are only temporary, and it was used as part of someone’s Doctoral research, to see how TES affects attention. I was given 5 SONA participation credits. The recruitment process was very simple; I simply had to email the researcher and sign up for the time slots.
